Peta Lemon, Talks About Her Love for Writing and Her New Children's Book The Fed-Up Cow

By nmurray, Feb 18 2018 04:50PM

Hello Peta, welcome to my blog, please let everyone know about your new book.

What made you want to write a book?

I’ve always written but since having children have developed a passion for reading and writing children’s’ picture books. My books are always written in rhyme and are always funny. These are the books I enjoy reading to my children. Bedtime favourites are The Rascally Cake, Someone Bigger and Stick Man.

Tell us about you and where you live.

I am a lawyer by day and a mum to three young children. I live in Surrey, England.

3. What have you written and what are you working on now?

I have written 5 stories that I plan to release. I’ve found a fantastic illustrator, who really gets my sense of humour and who does the most amazing drawings. I’ll use her for all my books.

The Fed-up Cow is my first release. It’s a story about a cow who is fed-up with life as a cow and who decides to become a sheep, then a pig and then a chicken. It is humorously written and illustrated but it does have an important message: be happy with who you are.

My second book, Timmy on the Toilet is currently being illustrated and I hope to release it in a few weeks’ time. Timmy on the Toilet is a funny story about a boy who rescues a fairy and is granted a wish that will come true straight away. Caught off guard, Timmy accidentally wishes he could fly, whilst sitting on the toilet at school. He then flies around school and town on the toilet until he tips off the edge as the toilet flies around a bend. The book has a twist at the end too.

How do you market your books and do your promotion methods work?

I’ve only just released the Fed-up Cow and am strarting to get my head around marketing and promotion. I intend to start with friends and family, getting books into local schools and libraries and getting as many reviews as possible.

Where can readers find your book for sale?
